Rodney Yee began his Yoga inquiry in 1980. In the same period he was a ballet dancer for the Oakland ballet and a physical therapy and philosophy major at UC Berkley. His yearning for a life that would utilize mind, body and spirit was satiated by the practicing and teaching of Yoga, which over the years Rodney has been instrumental in introducing to the United States. His appearance on Oprah in 1999 helped catapult Yoga into the mainstream. Other highlights in his long career as a premiere Yoga teacher include the co-owning of Piedmont Yoga Studio, his vast output of videos with Gaiam, and his eloquent workshops around the world.
Rodney's illustrious teaching career has flourished worldwide, but has for years been centered at both his wife Colleen's studio, Yoga Shanti in Sag Harbor, and at Yoga Shanti New York City, where he is a founding partner. Since 2001 he has partnered with his wife and with Donna Karan on Urban Zen Integrative Therapy, which encompasses the five main modalities to bring us into the present. About this Program
Colleen and Rodney are excited to offer a 300-Hour Advanced Teacher Training Program this upcoming Winter-Spring in their hometown of Sag Harbor, NY. Additional Lead Faculty Includes Tracey Toomey McQuade, Sarah Halweil, and Liz Ilgenfritz
A 300-hour advanced training builds upon and deepens the trainee’s understanding of the fundamental concepts of the practice and teaching of yoga that are taught at the 200-hour level. A 300-hour advanced training prepares you to teach principles and techniques of yoga that are more advanced, more detailed, and subtler. It also enables you to teach with greater skill than could be reasonably cultivated from just a 200-hour teacher training. Learn more.
This teacher training is designed for students who have already completed a 200-hour program, and are looking to dive deeper into their study of yoga and further their teaching skill set. Together, we will work on enriching and strengthening your personal home practice. We’ll examine the principles of Shanti-style sequencing in a range of categories; explore an advanced syllabus of yoga asana; and look more deeply at seeing and understanding bodies to practice a wider range of hands-on adjustments.

SEQUENCING FOR THE BREATH
For all levels.
Come take a weekend of yoga with Colleen and Rodney and enjoy the seamless relationship of asana, pranayama and meditation. Learn how the sequence of the asana practice can enable you to listen to and follow your breath. Explore how one part of each pose augments the inhale, while another part helps to escort the exhalation.
In this program, Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman Yee introduce practices that can shift the way you think about and do postures. Everyone can learn new ways to see, adjust, and feel the asana alignment. Return home more in tune with your subtle body and with a deeper understanding of how your inner body is mapped by the breath.
This program is suitable for everyone at any level with any expectation and yet it also fulfills a part of Kripalu’s 1000-Hour Yoga Teacher Training.
YOGA RETREAT FOR TRAUMA SURVIVORS
This retreat is open to all genders, and is limited to 15 participants.
It’s a sad fact that for many people the experience of early sexual trauma makes for difficulty in dealing with life. Since trauma resides in the body as a visceral memory, one can’t just “get over it.” According to yogic precepts, human beings experience life via the five senses and the thinking process. Traumatic experiences create memories that affect the way even new experiences are processed by the mind. In this residential retreat, Ramanand Patel will show us how yoga can help to deal with some of the experiences that interfere with daily living. This is done by re-establishing a safe relationship with inanimate objects, and then natural phenomena, plant life, animals, people, and finally the self. Once the strength of the ego is established by empowering the individual self, we will look at how the REAL SELF is free of time and hence free of trauma. Ramanand will work with the help of psychologist Velleda Ceccoli to create a safe atmosphere. Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman will assist with the necessary support.
